The experience
Description
Orvieto sits on a tuff cliff and boasts one of Italy's most spectacular Gothic cathedrals, with its mosaic façade and Luca Signorelli's frescoes. Beneath the town lies a maze of caves dug by the Etruscans.
After a truffle lunch, you reach Civita di Bagnoregio, "the dying city": a village suspended in mid-air, connected to the world only by a footbridge. A day of art, landscapes and Umbrian flavours.
