Less than an hour from Rome, Tivoli holds two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hadrian's Villa, Emperor Hadrian's vast residence, is a city of baths, theatres and reflecting pools set among olive trees.
Villa d'Este is the triumph of the Renaissance: terraced gardens and hundreds of fountains, from the Organ Fountain to the Avenue of the Hundred Fountains. A relaxing day with minivan transfer and a licensed guide.
